Frequently asked questions

What to expect?

I'm a natural light photographer. This means I don't offer any lighting or studio options. I prefer to shoot in your home or at one of your favourite places. I'm all about relaxed, fun, and natural photography for laid-back families Prior to your session, I will send you a questionnaire to fill out so I can get to know you and your family. Most sessions will take 1-2 hours. For an in-home session, I will start by having a quick nosey around your house to find the rooms with the best lighting. Now, this doesn't mean you have to go on a huge cleaning spree of the house but be aware that I may choose a few different rooms to shoot in. My goal for each session will be to document the story of your family; the love, laughter, playtime and hugs. It should be a fun experience!

I will throw in a few ‘everyone look at the camera and smile’ shots here and there. But, most of the session is pretty chilled out. I might give some suggestions for things to do, or more photogenic places to go, but generally, I just let the families take the lead and engage with each other. Often the best photos are when your kid is doing the thing that makes them most happy!

When should we book?

Newborns: If you would like to capture your little one's freshness and those early sleepy days you should get in touch with me while you are pregnant. That way, you will be sure to have me over within the baby's first 3 weeks. I will block out a few times for you around the due date and once the baby is born we can confirm the date.

My sessions however are very relaxed and don’t require bub to be asleep to perform any crazy baby yoga positions, so even if your bub is 3-6 weeks old by the time you are feeling up to photos, they will still capture all that new baby love.

Otherwise, I feel that all family stages are unique and special and you can book a shoot whenever you are ready to welcome me to your home.

Should I wait until everything is perfect?

Is family life ever perfect? Your kids want to see you, with them, so they can hold those memories and feelings in their hearts. You may never lose those 5 kilos, and you may never re-paint that feature wall, and that is okay. Your kids don’t care and time goes fast, don’t wait!

Which areas do you cover?

I'm based in West London (Chiswick). Pricing includes travel within West, SW, NW & Central London or approximately within an 8-mile radius of W4. However, I am happy to travel if you live slightly further afield, there's just an additional travel charge.

When do I pay for the session?

Bookings are secured with a £100 deposit, with the remaining balance due a week before your session.

When can we have our session?

Because I'm still a mum to two very little ones, I currently only offer midweek sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays, or weekends at a slightly higher price.

Newborn sessions typically take place in the morning (when the baby is usually most content). In-home family and outdoor sessions can take place at any time during the day but preferably before it gets too dark outside. We can discuss times most suitable depending on your shoot location and time of the year.

How long will the session take?

Family and Maternity shoots often take about 1-1 ½ hours. For newborns, the shoot generally takes about 2 to 2,5 hours. This is because I like to follow the baby's lead giving us plenty of time for nappy changes, cuddles and feeds, and often these in-between moments make for beautiful images too.

What if we need to reschedule?

A lot of my sessions are usually in the home, so then, we don’t need to reschedule since the weather isn’t such a significant factor. For outdoor shoots, if it looks like it might rain, I'll be in contact a couple of days prior to the shoot and we can decide together if we should reschedule.

If you or your little ones are sick, please try to give a least 24 hours notice, and we can reschedule when everyone is feeling better. I'll try my best to accommodate you as soon as possible. I am happy to offer one re-schedule free of charge due to illness. Please note that further re-schedules are subject to a re-booking fee (50% of the original session fee).

When will we get our images?

I take great pride and considerable time in editing each of your final images. You will receive a link to your private online gallery with all your images within a maximum of 1 month.

I like the idea of in-home, but my house isn't perfect?

Does it have windows? Then it sounds perfect to me! I love doing in-home shoots because I find photographing in your home contributes to capturing those time-specific memories you'll love to look back at later. I am a natural light photographer, so I will guide you into position to embrace the natural light in your home.

So please, do not think you need a show home for beautiful images. It’s all about YOU in YOUR environment. Even if you may not be in love with your house, it is uniquely yours and meaningful to you and your family, and that alone makes it perfect! Before the session, try to declutter the rooms we’ll be shooting in (most likely the master bedroom, baby nursery, living room and kitchen) and hide cables and products with big logos on them. Don’t worry too much about it all because during the shoot I will just move things out of sight if they turn out to be slightly distracting.

What should we wear?

A great question, and a common one! Most importantly, wear whatever you and the rest of the family feel most comfortable in, as that will shine through in the photos. Plus, I want this session to reflect you all as you really are! I usually suggest minimal pattern, nothing too bright in colour, and no large logos or words. It's best to avoid all-white or all-black and natural and earth tones tend to work best for photos. Once you have booked, I will send you a prep & styling guide to help you prepare for the session and make it as stress-free as possible for you.

I don't like how I look in my photos - what can you do about that?

My branding is about embracing authenticity. Light retouching (such as blemishes or scratches) that doesn’t interfere with major lines or features of the face, I have no problem removing, but anything else stays. I never edit out anything that will still be there in a week (wrinkles, scars, birthmarks, etc). Women are especially hard on themselves when it comes to body image (myself included)! I am always dreading a shot that shows my frown wrinkle, or my arms in an unflattering way or some other part of my body that I don’t love. So I know how you feel!

But, here’s the thing… One, I will do my best to make sure you look your best. When you look back at photos that you have taken in the past, especially ones with your children in them, you are probably happy to be in the photo with them and it brings back a flood of memories- how little they were and how fast time has flown.

And guess who else will be happy to have photos of you? Your kids. They don’t care what you look like- you are beautiful in their eyes… they don’t see the flaws that you do… they love you for who you are and how you make them feel. With a photo of you in it, they remember the songs you sang to them, the adventures you went on together, the quiet moments you had, how you made them feel and most of all, how you loved them.

Do you pose newborns?

No, I do not pose newborns in the traditional way. I prefer to capture the natural connection between baby, parent and siblings at home. So no baby yoga when I'm around!

I have a big family, is that OK?

Of course! A family size of up to six people is included! Each additional family member (for example extended family members) will cost £50 per person.

Do I have to order prints through you?

I offer well priced high quality prints via my gallery store so it's an option but it's definitely not mandatory! If you do choose to order prints yourself, I highly recommend ordering them through a specialised photo center and not a generic photo lab/store because I can't vouch for their quality.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes I do! Please get in touch and I can arrange a gift certificate for you or someone special.
